Stock video is great if creating images for your video isn’t for you. Maybe you’d rather buy stock. Stock footage and stock images are images or footage that people have created and are to be sold. This means it is often cheaper to buy than renting your own equipment and setting up your shot, but also means it is likely that you’ll see it again in another video.
Stock footage and stock images come with licensing restrictions. So you may not be able to use it more than once, or to broadcast it. You will have to buy the relevant licence for what you need. If you are unsure, check before you buy with the person who created it. The person who created the image or footage, owns it.
To get started here are a few places to have a look. Before you start, make sure you know what you are looking for. (Sounds silly we know.) But do you need it in HD? Square pixels? To be broadcast or just to be shown on a website?
