What are Motion Graphics?
When we pitch at networking events, people always ask the same question. 'What are Motion Graphics'...
“I understand you make promotional videos for websites…but what are Motion Graphics?”
“Well” we say. “The short answer is Moving Graphics.”
“Like animation?”
“Yes and no. Motion Graphics are shapes made in a computer and moved around to tell your story. Animation can be made in a computer too, but is more detailed and is best for characters. Motion Graphics is animation for grown-ups.”
…and just like a good explainer video, we show and tell people what we do…
Here is that video that explains it wonderfully. It is by the extremely talented Federico Ponce, who is the Creative Director on multiple Marvel projects and an independent filmmaker. He tells us what MOTION GRAPHICS is exactly.
You can animate text, shapes, photos and even put effects on top of live action footage (filmed with a camera) to tell your story. You can use bounce, reveal, dissolve and flip your graphics and even use a virtual camera that moves around a scene like a real, hand held camera would.
Is it sad to get excited about moving graphics? Well, yes. Probably. That is why we love what we do. So we think it’s OK.
